Hey All,

Today, the results for the Pimp My Broadband is out! I am ranked top 25 for the Pimp My Broadband Contest. The prizes for rank 4-50 will be a HSDPA Modem and 3 months free subscription for Digi Explore Package. However i did not win the grand prize which is the new 13 Inch MacBook Pro. It will be good to try out the newly launched broadband by Digi. I hope that Digi broadband will provide better services and faster connection compared with the current broadband (Maxis Broadband).

Actually, the main reason why i joined this competition is because i am totally frustrated with my current broadband and wanna try other broadband. I have to go to McD, KFC, Starbucks, Coffee Bean and other WiFi hotspot everyday just to get me connected to the internet. It have caused my time being wasted, no flexibility, troublesome, inconvenience and SCOLDING from my parents. =( Moreover, I am student which i need to submit my assignments, assessments and FYP (Final Year Project). All i can say to my current broadband. You have been pimped! Bye Bye Maxis Broadband. Maxis Broadband has given to its customers their WORST service EVER! I cant wait to collect my prizes for this competition.

Kampar Life

After busy weeks in China and Laos, I am back now in Malaysia. My holiday trip was great and now back to study like @ Kampar. OMG..... KAMPAR.. If you dont know where is Kampar, I will explain to you further. It is located at Kinta Selantan, Perak. The distance from Kampar to Ipoh is about 36km. Ipoh is a common place to chill out, kill time, and buy/do something where Kampar cant do. It took about 25-45 minutes if you drive to Ipoh depending which way you use and how fast you drive. Drive at your own risk because Ipoh to Bidor have a lot of trucks and trailers all around. High accidents always happened at the old road. Therefore, BECAREFUL!

Back to my Kampar life. I am now staying in Kampar for 2 weeks already. All i can say that the weather here are extreme hot and cold. Meaning that during the day time it will be extremely hot until you have to take bath at least 3 times. While the cold weather occurred when it is raining heavily (usually at the year end). I also have to drink lots of water everyday to prevent dehydration. The second day at Kampar, i was having fever and got into viral attack due to the water in Kampar. Water here at not filtered and I vomited twice on the day itself. Luckily, I was able to recovered by midnight.

Study environment at UTAR Kampar is better than the one in Petaling Jaya Campus. Lecture room and the tutorial room are 1000 times larger compared with the PJ Campus. PJ Campus are considered Universiti Tak Ada Ruang (UTAR) already due to its small space in its building. But in Kampar Campus are different. There are many blocks all around the campus and 100% assured that sufficient space for the student to attend the lecture and tutorials. However, study environment good doesn't means that study life at Kampar are good as you expected. I was told by my lecturer that Kampar students tend to fail more compared with the PJ Campus. That is because students attitude are worse due to bad attitude, abuse of freedom (always hang out, especially Ipoh. Oh yeah, McD is in Ipoh. There were no McD in Kampar!), full time entertainment and others. Lecturers in UTAR Kampar are new compared as in other campus in UTAR. Most of the lecturer who taught me isn't that good because i am not able to understand what the lecturer is saying! Somehow, I managed to understand by learning it by myself. =D

Hostel life (Meaning where you live while you are studying) pretty bad as usual. This is because students (my neighbors) blasts their sound system and screams every night until 3am. What a joke... That bulgars must be insane... Many Students also love sitting down on the walkway in front of their house during nighttime. Most of the time they will be chit chatting among themselves. That is very common in Westlake, Kampar. They have a table and chairs inside yet they still enjoy sitting on the road... Very Interesting. I saw students in Kampar enjoy playing basketball until 3am.

Internet in Kampar is the worst internet you could possibly get in Malaysia! This is because the download speed will be about 5kbps download. UTAR Kampar have the worst internet i ever faced! 460 BYTES per SEC! my 33.6kbps modem can download faster than UTAR Kampar internet! Meaning using internet in UTAR Kampar is useless. The only way is to use at home or at Cybercafes. Even that also, during the night. The internet will be very slow because students love watching their chinese dramas using PPS (PPStream) where it really leech the connection nicely in and out! The only solution will be using podcast to kill their PPStream connection. Hahahahaha! Make them cannot enjoy watching their TVB Drama! Other than that, the line should be fine here.

Food in old town Kampar isn't that bad. They have nice Fried Keow Tew using Coal located beside the fresh market and it is only RM2.50! Curry Chicken Bread in Kampar are also popular here. The only problem UTAR Kampar located at Bandar Baru Kampar (New Town), about 3km if you wanna come to Kampar Old Town. In the New Town in Kampar, the food are more expensive than KL, worse than KL, and you feel like not eating. The only solution, if you have a car. Please go to old town and eat. And If you dont have a car, make your own food is better.

Overall, Kampar lifestyle are extremely boring and you should have a car when you are here. =D And also if you want to study, better find a quiet place like Eastlake or something as long not in Westlake there. Boredness will be the biggest factor in Kampar until students willingly to sit down on the road just to chitchat. Imagine how bad is Kampar life... It is really that bad...

I will further explain to you about Kampar when the right time comes! =P

What happened to Pimp My broadband website?

Today, i was told by my friend that they cant enter to the website (www.pimpmybroadband.com.my) via sms. This is because i was at laos having a vacation there. Once i received the news, i rush back home and trying using my laptop to enter the website. However, i were not able to enter website too. It is seems that the website is having the Denial of Service Attack (DOS attack). The website displayed the Http/1.1 Service Unavailable. I cant ask my friends to vote for me as the competition is going to end soon. This is because for the past 2 weeks i was in China and Laos. There were no chance for me to ask my friends to vote for me. =( I hope that website is on operation as soon as possible.

Yahoo!!!! Exam over already! My last paper was the Distributed Computer System. This subject is all about distributing it systems via network. I dont know how well i did this paper. it seems a bit of problem at the compulsory questions. Whatever it is, EXAM OVER!!! Dont want to think about it.

Anyway, I will be chilling my self at Guangzhou, China and then later on to Laos. I hope i can really throw everything out from studies and my projects for a while. Year 3 Semester 1 is really a hell semester. Can really push you beyond your limits.

Before I share my true stories, I have to briefly explain to you what is broadband because now maxis broadband is giving “NARROWBAND” services to me! This is cheating customer rights!

Broadband in data can refer to broadband networks or broadband Internet and may have the same meaning as above, so that data transmission over a fiber optic cable would be referred to as broadband as compared to a telephone modem operating at 56,000 bits per second.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (better known as MCMC) sets a low threshold for broadband:
• Malaysian broadband definition:
– Any service beyond the scope of existing PSTN/ISDN and 2G cellular networks
– With data rates that exceed the the normal voice-related speed (56 kbit/s for PSTN and 64 kbit/s for ISDN)

Starting point – Getting Started Maxis Broadband

I have been a loyal customer for maxis broadband since maxis launched its broadband. The services and speed I was getting that time was so good until my dad decided to have a broadband for its office too.
As an IT student, internet is the most important tools that needed for me to get connected with the world to retrieve information’s for daily life and work! Sending critical work to supervisors and friends are important for me! Receiving updates of my course and software are also important to me too!
I have chosen it because Maxis Broadband is the only wireless broadband at that time and Screamyx giving a lot of problem like unstable connections and many more. It is convenient to have the Internet on the go. Speed that I am getting that time was way lot faster, stable and reliable than the Screamyx, by Terrrorkom Monopoly (another term of TMNuts). The first 3 months during the launch of maxis broadband services very superb. I am getting 2.1mbps with 600kbps download speed.

PROBLEM Arises with Maxis Narrowband

Since the year 2007, I have been complaining to maxis about many problems such as slow connection (100kbps +-), high latency (ms), data error (when downloading), disconnection and so on. Logging into Windows Live Messenger, MSN Messenger, and Microsoft Messenger for Mac, or 3rd party application such as Adium, aMSN, and etc. is the biggest nightmare I had ever been!

Most of my assignments and projects failed to be sent to my fellow friends. The worst part is, GMail and hotmail was unable to login (due to slow connections Download & Upload). Therefore I have to go to HOTSPOTS (Starbucks) or wherever I can get Internet connections. My studies are being affected badly due to the broadband that I am facing. Due dates of assignment was badly affected. My parents that time were frustrated with the services that they have given to us. Because of this problem, my dad had decided to change its Office Broadband to SCREAMYX! No choice as it was affected my dad business too.
The BIGGEST joke is that I am not the only one who is facing these problems. MY fellow friends and relatives who are using these crappy broadband also faced the same problem as me. Some even given up Maxis broadband and change other broadband services. That time I did comparison with DiGi Edge connections and it was so much faster than the Maxis HSDPA connections at the same time and locations.

P2P are being blocked because of the fair usage policy. I don’t really care, as I don’t use much P2P, because I am not those crazy of TVB dramas or TV shows. I usually use HTTP to download my songs, software and music videos. Mostly my keep update my computer with latest software and operating system (Windows and Mac Operating System).

Well, complaints have been made and rebates have been given about RM 600++ for last year after calling the hotline almost everyday. They did solved a bit of minor problems after a long time till end of 2008. The damages have been made to me is unbearable. I not satisfied of maxis by just giving rebates to solve their problem. No apologies have been made from them!

BOILING POINT – DISSAPPOINTED CUSTOMER (I am totally LOST!)

However, this year 2009, Maxis services are getting worse. The Hotline people are very rude, unfriendly, always cut my line when calling and refused to apologies and statements of wrongdoing. Probably they cant cover the a$$ out.

The MAXIS HOTLINE always gives LAME reasons such as network at the tower problem (repeating months and months), still under investigations for months, and many more reasons that maxis staff can cover up. They love dragging the problem even LONGER!

I have asked my dad to change to other broadband services such DiGi and others... But, my dad said the packages that other broadband are giving are relatively expensive and might not be as stable as maxis broadband. The reason of keeping this broadband is that it is cheaper and no contract required. Plus he doesn’t want all the trouble of changing the broadband as the rebate for 2008 was about RM400++. Well… I am very frustrated with Maxis Broadband treated me and their ABYsMAL SERVICES that they have given it to me!

Last 2 months, somewhere the month of early August 2009. DiGi launches its services at my campus (UTAR, Section 13 PJ) and have a road show over there. I was totally impressed on the new broadband services that they have given to me. To make sure that DiGi is giving a good service, fast internet speed, low latency and so on. I told the promoter to try the modem on my MacBook Pro. They have these small USB modem which is 10000 times smaller than my BIG GIGANTIC ZTC MODEM that maxis have provided it to me! It uses the bus-powered USB where you don’t need any power output.

Test begins; the speed I am getting is even faster than maxis broadband!
Download Speed: 2.5mbps++! OMG! This is great!
Latency: 158ms!
Upload speed: 250kbps++!

It supports Mac OS X as you just need to install the HUEWEI drivers onto the Mac! So Easy! I was then later convinced with the DiGi broadband!

CRITICAL MOMENTS! REASON TO HAVE MY BROADBAND PIMPED!

Problems from the previous year still arise and it is getting worse until it is one of the worst nightmares I have EVER BEEN! Recently, connections are so bad until I am not able to open the files that you have downloaded (like pdf, mp4, zip, dmg, exe, or other file formats). These have caused me to REDOWNLOAD the file again and again until it is workable (which never happened to me). I have to go Wireless enabled area to download the critical files that I needed.

The worst part is, when you are using the maxis broadband downloading update and firmware for your computer. It might not work properly until it happened that my computer unable to boot (start-up). The cunning maxis broadband give lousy services make my laptop need to be archived and UPDATE the software all over again.

I am DEEPLY DISSAPOINTED that maxis broadband are manipulating their services and caused me lots of disaster to me. Slow connections never mind, but file error is the biggest problem that maxis are facing now!
Uploading a txt file less than 20kb is really a big hassle for me. It took me 10 MINUTES just to upload a 20kb txt files to my friends. Most of the time failed due to ERROR or sending failed. This is because maxis are giving NARROWBAND services to me which limits only 64kbps of upload speed and sometimes I will only get 20kbps upload speed. Meaning that if I upload my Final Year Project about 3mbps, it is impossible to UPLOAD it at ALL!

SELFISH MAXIS BROADBAND IS BEING BLACKLISTED BY ME (not they blacklist me!) AND I HAVE ENOUGH OF MAXIS BROADBAND!
I AM TOTALLY EXSHAUSTED WITH MY MAXIS NARROWBAND! I PIMPED MY BROADBAND!

All i can say Time to Change! Always a smart choice!

BAD: Activity Monitor on the usage RAM (Memory). 2 GB of RAM is not enough! I am only running normal application such as iTunes, Safari, Firefox and IM (Microsoft Messenger) only.

GOOD: Inside Activity Monitor also shows that some applications are running on 64 bit processing using the Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

This is an article about the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. While you are reading this article, you must be asking whether the Mac OS X 10.6 will bring any difference to you? Is worth the upgrade? Is Snow Leopard good?

Here is the answer, this upgrade for my Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard costs me RM 39.00 (includes everything - mail, tax and etc..). The reason it is RM 39.00 because I am an eligible MacBook Pro 13 inch owner which i bought it on end of July.

I would say very little changes on the Snow Leopard. It took about 1 hour to install the Snow Leopard. Here i will explain the good and the bad of the Snow Leopard:

Good
1. Free Up 15 GB of my hard disk space on my MacBook Pro 13 inch.
2. Snappier start up time
3. Support of Email Exchange support
4. Fast response on the spotlight (Search Engine)
5. Neatier Expose
6. Better User Interface (UI) - Better Stack
7. Screen Record and easier view while playing videos on the QuickTime X
8. Better Response on the WiFi (Airport wireless)
9. 64 bit Integration (Some Applications are running on 64 bit) wow!
10. Copy and paste pdf (able to copy single column - yet acrobat reader can do it. No difference!)

Bad
1. Expensive (Not worth the upgrade) Apple should Give it for FREE!
2. Modest update. Difference between the Mac OS 10.5 Leopard and the Snow Leopard are similar. (in terms of function and overall). Dock Menus are the same with Leopard! OMG!
3. High Memory (RAM - 2 GB DDR3 RAM not enough!) for normal surfing (eg. iTunes, Microsoft Messenger, Safari, Firefox etc..)
4. Printer problems - cant print because of drivers. ARgh!!
5. Not many software can support the new snow leopard
6. Say goodbye to PowerPC. It only support the Intel Based processors.
7. Safari 4 - like the IE (Internet Explorer 7) crappy. Facebook cant support all applications. Shameful. Opera 9.64 is a better browser!

Therefore, if you want faster performance. It is worth upgrading. Else, not advisable to upgrade now.

1 August 2009 - KL Protest Jam & PC fair

Today, it is a day to be remembered. This is because of the KL jam that I have experienced just to go to PC fair at KLCC. I get out from my house about 2.40 p.m. to go to KLCC for pc fair and also to wait for my parents back from China. Firstly, when i get out from my house (Bandar Sunway) to the LDP. The traffic was very heavy as i am heading to the federal highway. After thinking of the jam, I have decided to use NPE to go to KLCC since it is severely jammed up. Using NPE from Sunway to Sg. Besi was smooth which took only 10 mins.

After using the NPE highway, that Sg Besi Highway was very congested. Thanks god there is the SMART Tunnel on the left side. If not, I will be stuck another 20 mins to enter to the right side of the SMART tunnel. Right after I paid the RM 2.00 toll, suddenly the traffic inside the SMART tunnel was congested too. I was driving like below 20kmh on a SMART highway. OMG... it never happens in my entire life before! I suppose highway will able to solve traffic jams in KL. SMART highway failed to solve the traffic jam in KL! What the hack! The jam took me about 30 mins as i am crawling inside the tunnel at average speed of 5-15 kmh. The heavy traffic inside tunnel was so bad until i have to use the emergency lane to overtake some cars inside the tunnel. Worst part is, there are many breakdown as I am using the SMART tunnel. The SMART Tunnel fails to get help to those car broke down!

At last, at 3.30 p.m. i have successfully reached KLCC by using the Jalan Sultan Ismail way. I am so lucky to know some shortcuts around KL. The PC fair in KLCC was not that interesting and plus the crowd were fewer than the previous. After 2 hours in the PC fair, i went and fetch my parents at KL Sentral as they took the AirAsia bus. Once i get out from KLCC, I just found out some of the road were empty as I am the only one is using that road. That time I was at Dataran Merdeka that side. Suddenly i saw water on the road and lots of police forces EVERYWHERE! I was shocked and stunned about this matter. Later, the police blocked the road to the KL Sentral and I have to use alternative way that caused another 20 mins. At last, I am able to meet my parents at KL Sentral.

On the way back from the KL Sentral, i just found out from my parents that there were some protests about the ISA in KL. I felt lucky that I dint use Federal Highway because the jam was about 10km long! That was unbelievable! If i use the federal highway, I would get stuck in the jam for 2 hours! I felt lucky about myself. I have managed enter KLCC within 45 mins with the massive jam in KL!

Last week, it was a really a interesting week for me. I went outing with Pei Shan. It was really a great time going out with her as i dint go out for quite sometime. We have the japanese food as for our lunch. She bought me to Zanmai. The food there was not bad as compared with Sushi King. After that, we went outing with her to the Lake Garden, Kuala Lumpur. Although the hot weather was killing us at the Lake Garden, we walk around for a while. Then, we have decided to have a some Taiwanese Slow Flakes. The Snow Flakes are really great. I want go there for a SnowFlakes again. It was great time chilling and going out with her.

Kakiis One Nite Outting

The Kakiis one nite outing have been taken place at Europhia (Ministry of Sound, London) yesterday (13 December 2008) located at Sunway Resort Hotel. There is a lot of games, event, dancing and prizes to be won. The event was great and i really enjoyed it. Especially my bro. I love the tennis part which i think it is interesting. I always wanted a game console (Wii) which is the first prize. However, I did not win anything during the event last night.

This is some dancing and modeling competition. Some of then volunteering themselves in the center of the stage. Top 4 gets a Pendrive 16 GB.

Mac On Windows XP

Macintosh Operating System OS X 10.4 Tiger (Intel) is on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2, Vista(Experimantal), 95/98/2000/2003. This is an emulator software which able to run 2 or more operating system at one time without booting your computer. The program called Parallels. You can put in Linux, MS-DOS, FreeBSD. O/S 2, Solaris and others. This will effect your RAM and processing speed. Since i am using a Dual Core processor. There is not much of problem.

There is another way of enable Windows on Apple computer is by using BootCamp. But this program you need to reboot your computer to order to run that operating system.

The worst thing happened on my MacBook Pro so far(Mac OS X 10.5.5 update)

Yesterday, i have updated my computer to the 10.5.5 . The download went smoothly. However, there are some fallbacks about this version. This version have caused me many nightmares to me. After installing this update, it requires a restart. So i go ahead with the restart. When i restarted the computer, it was shocked and i was stunt when i see this error. "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key." . This is the worst scenario happened on my MacBook Pro so far. I cant even start my computer and it kept restarting. This is horrible!

Then i switched the computer off as it does not response to any key when i have inserted a Mac installation Disc 1. Therefore, i have decided to archive my computer. This caused my mac os x to be downgraded to 10.5.2 which is the original version for my MacBook Pro. Well... the installation took a blistering 2 hours of my life!

After the 2 hours of the archive, the start-up when smoothy. Somehow many of my software like Final Cut Pro, Aperture, iTunes, QuickTime and many other softwares cannot be run properly. This means i have to reinstall all these important software that i need to take all the trouble of downloading the software again. The worst part are my bluetooth of my MacBook Pro having problems connecting to all devices including my older Macbook Black and the VRAM failure (which means my NVIDIA Geforce 8600m GT aren't working properly). I really need to send my laptop for service this time but they aren't doing anything as i have already report these problems to them.

I really hope that Apple can resolve these update problems as i am not the only one having these problems and i need to pair my devices like my mobile phones to my computer to transfer data wirelessly. This is a big disappointment as my older MacBook which is running on Mac OS X 10.4 doesn't have any problems! What is the use of the bluetooth where i cant even use it! heck.... please solve these problems as soon as possible! I have wasted too much time for solving this particular problem which is not my fault. Frustrated!

I was wondering of how to solve the chinese character at my iTunes. Why there is always this problems occur when i play some chinese songs? This is also apply to Windows. Since there are no standard of pinyin for the chinese characters. Why they just dont standardize all chinese into one so that this problem wont occur. My First Arabian Food @ Le Meridien, KL Sentral

Today i have tried the Arabian food. This is my first time trying it. Yummy yummy. I love their appetizer. One of the best appetizer ever eaten so far! Their main course is the arabian food named Tajeem Lahem. It is a "Moroccan Style" with the Lam Stew with Dried Fruit, Nuts and Black Honey Sauce. When you have your first bite, you will feel not very nice. After a few bite, you will get the feel of it. Some people may not like that food. Somehow, it is okay to me. I think i have to adapt with that food. Finally the desert part, we have milk pudding and a cup of arabian coffee. The milk pudding is nice and the coffee is like the Starbucks coffee that i usually drink. It has a very strong coffee taste which you will need to add 2 cubes of brown sugar and plenty of milk. And also dont forget the drink with the small tiny glass which i dont know the name. It taste lovely. Just like the orange juice. I wanted to add somemore, but need to order (need to pay la...) =(. I will never forget this wonderful moment. Hope to try arabian food in the near future.

Add more sugar to the coffee! It taste very bitter and strong.

Spiderman 3 Review

spiderman 3 seems to be better than the spiderman 2. One thing i like about the spiderman 3 the most when the fighting part which involves 4 heros. The disadvantages of spiderman 3 will be certain part of the movie seems to be tedious. All the heroes are all packed up to quickly at the end. Although it was 2 hours 15 mins movie, it can spread the time separately. The virus or the venom whatever it called it doesnt give any sense. While the sand part which involves the killer/robber, it was concluded with a happy ending. It seems that hero never dies. I love the heroes. Just the venom at the ending part it doesnt give sense to me. It was full of action while watching the show. Overall i found it was average and i cant give a 5 star to spiderman 3. The most i can rate will be 3 1/2 to 4 star. I recommend people to watch the spiderman 3.

This is the all-new Apple MacBook. And although it’s basically Apple’s new budget notebook, it’s a lot closer to the Pro models in terms of features and performance.

In fact, it’s more than the iBook range (which it replaces) ever was and it’s a vastly improved beast. For starters, it’s now available in both the usual glossy white enclosure and a new, strangely desirable matte black finish (apparently, black is the new white).

Other exterior changes include a new 13.3in glossy widescreen LCD and a new keyboard design. It’s more understated too – there are absolutely no protrusions, bumps or unnecessary lines. Even the mechanical latch for the LCD lid has been replaced by a magnetic one. Nice.

The MacBook’s beauty is more than just skin deep too. Unlike the iBooks, the MacBook has an easily accessible hard drive bay, which is convenient if you need to swap drives or upgrade. Then, there’s the range of processors: Either a speedy 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor or the even faster 2GHz model as found in this review unit.

Dance for me

If you’ve heard about the Intel Core Duo processor before (it’s also part of Intel Centrino Duo platform for notebook PCs), you probably would’ve heard about its superb performance.

With two parallel processing cores on a single chip and a very clever shared cache system, it works wonders in a multi-threaded operating environment such as Mac OS X 10.4.

The end result is that the MacBook, like all other Core Duo-equipped Macs and notebook PCs, is blazingly fast at processor-intensive tasks. It routinely outperforms the PowerMac G5 and Intel Pentium 4-based computers in the In.Tech office in audio/video encoding, software 3D rendering and image editing benchmarks.

In any case, it’ll run circles round any PowerBook G4.

In fact, the only kink in the MacBook’s armour is its integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics chip. While perfectly fine for general video and 2D graphics applications, it doesn’t have enough power for demanding real-time 3D applications.

It’s not officially supported by games such as Call of Duty 2 while reports from around the Web suggest that it’s not great for World of Warcraft. In our own tests, it’s not fast enough for Unreal Tournament 2004, dipping down below 10 frames a second on a fairly regular basis – even at minimal detail settings.

Being an integrated design, the GMA 950 eats into the main system RAM, which is a problem if you plan to attach a second monitor for an extended desktop (the MacBook doesn’t come with a mini-DVI to DVI/VGA adaptor cable, by the way – you’ll have to purchase one separately).

In normal usage (using only the built-in LCD for typical non-gaming applications) 493MB of the total 512MB of RAM is available. With the minimum requirements for advanced applications skyrocketing each year, I think Apple should have included 1GB of RAM as standard.

On the road

The MacBook takes only about 20 seconds to start up, which is good if you’re the sort of person who shuts down his computer rather than putting it to sleep.

Like all Macs, the MacBook has instantly wakes from sleep. However, leaving the MacBook in sleep for an entire working day drained about 20% of the battery, which is a bit worse than I expected.

Like the MacBook Pro, the MacBook runs very hot at full power, so don't put in on your lap if you are planning to be a father. It does run a lot cooler with energy-saving features turned on, though.

Speaking of the battery, the MacBook seems to have more endurance than the Pro versions. With the MacBook, I can easily manage four hours or more while surfing the Net through a WiFi connection and listening to music – something that requires extreme discipline to achieve on a MacBook Pro.

The new 13.3in LCD offers loads of desktop real estate, which is nice. It’s one of those glossy-coated LCDs – a first for an Apple notebook – and it offers much better contrast than traditional matte-screened monitors.

However, you might be distracted by stray reflections when using the MacBook outdoors or if you happen to have a Christmas tree behind you or something. But in most indoor environments, it’s fine.

But if you are going out, you’d better pack some earphones because the built-in speakers are too soft for use in any situation other than complete silence.

On the tactile front, the MacBook retains Apple’s very useful scrolling touchpad, which works like a scroll wheel on a mouse. Simply place two fingers on the trackpad and you’ll be able to scroll text and images both up/down and left/right.

I like the new keyboard too. Although lacking the excellent tactile feedback of the MacBook Pro’s, it’s comfortable to use and is more solid than the one on the iBook. But in spite of how it looks, it isn’t spill proof.

Conclusion

The matte-black MacBook here comes at a premium – it’s RM700 more than a similarly specified white-coloured model (which is identical apart from a slightly smaller 60GB hard disk).

And if you’re not too fussy about processor speeds and don’t need DVD writing capabilities, there’s the more affordable 1.83GHz model with a DVD/CD-RW combo drive for just RM4,399.

For all intents and purposes, the MacBook is a cracking notebook. As long as you’re not planning to use it for playing games, it’s brilliant.

Pros: Speedy processor; good specifications; looks and feels really nice.

Cons: Comes with only 512MB RAM; graphics chip not great for games.

Youth Dhama Camp 15th

It was a great time to join this camp. I hope i am able to join the camp next year. The Flying Fox was great, get to meet new and old friends. It have been a long time i did not go for camp. Although, i skipped 3 days of my lecture and tutorial class and managed to replace some of the classes. But, i have no regret going for this camp. To my group members, it was a great time being together during the camp. keep the good team work on!!! Those whom i know, it is nice to meet being your friends. The next day after camp, i went to The Curve to celebrate New Year together. We have fun until so late (4.30am). Well, i slept very late around 6 something. And the following day, we have party at Ivan house where we drink some beer and liqour. Anyway, i dont drink beer. After 2 weeks of camp, i have the reunion at the temple. I am happy to meet some of my friends there. Plus, the reunion was cool. Lots of fun there. If you have anything to say, feel free to comment.

Macintosh Operating System OS X 10.4 Tiger (Intel)

This is some screen have been taken from MacBook Black.
I am pretty new at macintosh and some of the settings is totaly different than the pc based which is the Windows. i really like the interface of the operating system. One problem which the MacBook is the RAM. Although, 512 MB of RAM is enough to run windows XP but not for MAC. 512 Mb of RAM is not enough. You need at least 1 GB of RAM. but well, for me to upgrade the ram will cost a lot of money. Since it is running on Intel Core Duo, the RAM will be pair 256 + 256 MB 667 MHz SO-DIMM DDR2. which totaly different with the PC DDR2 RAM. just to upgrade to 1 GB is about RM450+- and to 2 GB is about RM850+-. I am hoping that the price of the dropped so i can upgrade the RAM =). Please give some comments about the screen shot. There will more screen shots coming soon.

The Best Phone in the Year 2006

After 3 months of research and comparing the phones in the market. In terms of price, style, and functions, the SonyEricsson W800i, W550i and Motorola RAZR V3i have it's good price, style and functions. Since Malaysia have just started it's 3 Generation network, it is not recomanded to switch to 3G phones because the coverage in Malaysia is still limited. Moreover, 3G phones is large and bulky which makes it harder to carry the phone and poor battery life.
             Nowadays, people loves listening to musics and love handphones. Since then, handphone company like SonyErricsson and Motorola comes out with their Walkman Phone and Itunes or Ipod phones... The SonyEricsson W800i ,W550i and Motorola RAZR V3i is spoiling my choice of getting a new phone.... all of them are good.... Unfortunely, i have to only choose one of 3 phones. SonyEricsson W550i have it's stereo speakers, walkman phone and bulit in memory 256MB. Although, the costs of W550i is only RM1250 but the size of the phone is so bulky and it does not have the memory card/stick.
             While the SonyEricsson W800i which most people will choose because of it's walkman phone with 512 MB memory stick Duo and 2 Megapixels Camera. The Functions is even better than the W550i and RAZR v3i in terms of camera and memory card. There is a problem with the W800i. One of the problem is the speaker is not loud enough, it is just so weak... Another problem with the W800i is when you use 2MP + autofocus, it is just took the pictures too long about 3-5 seconds (like the cannon Compact cameras); Bluetooth connections is not as fast as the Motorola RAZR V3i; very small headphone jack and sound quality is very standard like all other mp3 players and phones. Motorola RAZR V3i is a design of Motorola V3. Although their cameras is not as good as the W800i, but their itunes programs is a lot better than Walkman Phone Programs. Reason one, itunes will display picture while you play the musics like all other color IPod. the Other reasons are that it can rate the songs, require only itunes program to store in the songs; easy to use program; Enlarge the song picture you are playing; and can play protected itunes songs from Musics Store.
                The Motorola RAZR V3i have a excellent bluetooth connectively because their bluetooth is Class 1 or V1.2 which can go up to 100 meter and faster transfer rates. A lot of people outside mistaken that motorola phone is unfriendly user, lag a lot and slow. But for Motorola RAZR V3i is different, the phone have a huge improvement. I try running using GPRS and with the itunes together, it doesnt give me problem at all and it running properly. I heard some of my friends that they say RAZR V3 that you cant sms using two hands because the keypad uses a sensor. And i have to say it's not true, i tried using two hands to type a sms to my friend and there is no problem. Not just that, the design of the phone is really good, slim and stylish. And I have to say that Motorola RAZR V3i is a winner. With the limitation of 50 songs on the itunes, you can use the motorola audio player to store in more songs if you think that 50 songs is not enough for you... This is the results and i bought this phone.
